Greetings, I need to determine the trend for barometric pressure based on measurements taken at 15-minute intervals over a 3 hour period. A rise or fall trend occurs if the the pressure changes more than 0.1 kPa, and rapid rise or fall if pressure changes more than 0.2 kPa over a three hour period. Measurements are in kPa, ranging roughly from 97.00 to 104.00.

Haven't used my college math in over thirty years - just can't seem to remember this.

Any help in this area would be greatly appreciated.

This sounds like you are asking for a computer program to implement the criteria stipulated in the question. If so, we need to migrate this question to SO. Otherwise, you need to clarify what you mean by "determine the trend." – whuber Feb 24 '11 at 20:51
