Gregory has extensive education and experiences at national, state, and local levels in the fields of K-12 education. He specializes in science education and has a strong background in teacher education, program design and evaluation, best practices in curriculum-assessment-instruction, mathematics education, reading and writing in content areas, administration and supervision, and school/district transformation. He received his B.S. and M.Ed. at Worcester State College and is ABD from a Ph.D. program from the University of Virginia. In addition, he has had training in Cognitive Coaching, Adaptive Schools, TQM, and Six Sigma.
Before coming to South Carolina, Gregory's experiences in Virginia included teaching middle school and high school, working on a state-wide physics education program at the University of Virginia, and coordinating the high school science program for Virginia Beach City Public Schools (48th largest school system in the US).
In South Carolina, Gregory has been an integral team member that worked on a state-wide math/science coaching program, a Title I assistance program, and helping schools become STEM schools. He is currently a member of a team working on a research project involving disciplinary literacy in the math/science middle school classroom (see IQMS, http://www.s2temsc.org/researchprojects).
He also assisted with the development of the science standards and support guides for South Carolina. He is especially known for his work with data analysis within a continuous improvement cycle at the classroom, school, and district levels.
