Gelman Hill textbook- question about linear transformation In your $Y = a + b x,$ the new sample mean is $a + b \mu$ while the new standard deviation is $|b| \sigma.$ The suggestion is that you would use $Y = 47.5 + 1.5 x $ but not use $Y = 152.5 - 1.5 x.$ |

Gelman Hill textbook- question about linear transformation I bet you want your letter $b$ to be positive. |

What are the chances my wife has lupus? @SteveLianoglou, he never took down the question. Instead, it has been migrated here as a separate question. It does not show up under the "Newest" sort for questions, but it does for "Active." |

What are the chances my wife has lupus? Hmmm. Can they migrate this answer including the votes? It's a good answer. |

What are the chances my wife has lupus? EpiGrad, if you re-post this as an answer to the migrated question, I imagine I can just delete this overall question. Yes, I can see that I do have a delete button below my question. If I don't see that, I will just wait on what you and whuber figure out. |

What are the chances my wife has lupus? @EpiGrad, merging happened already. I guess it is up to you and whuber to decide whether to keep two questions open, possibly move your answer (exactly what I wanted, by the way, an answer from someone who is not just guessing) to the merged question, etc. |

What are the chances my wife has lupus? @whuber, it seems the migration happened a few seconds ago. Since EpiGrad gave a very nice answer here, I won't be deleting this or doing anything until I get clear instructions. |

What are the chances my wife has lupus? @MarianoSuárez-Alvarez, can this be moved to stats.stackexchange? I did statistics undergraduate, I know some of the actual issues here, but I would prefer this asked of someone who works on it full time. Or, not answered in a more authoritative manner. |

Understanding similarity sensitive hashing algorithm in AdaBoost stats.stackexchange has its own discussion page for questions about policy. If you just click on meta.stats.stackexchange.com/questions/1010/… you will be sent to my question. If you then click on the word QUESTIONS it will show you all the most recent discussions. At the bottom of the page, you may then click to any of the total of 19 pages of discussions to see more. |

Understanding similarity sensitive hashing algorithm in AdaBoost user11869, I was just checking in to see how this was going. In particular, despite appearances, I wonder whether you will get an answer here. I will see if I can post on the Meta here, there does seem to be a reputation lower bound for that. From my count of numbers of questions with related tags, certainly there are those who are able to answer you.
