I am trying to find an intuitive explanation of the difference between the hazard and survival rates? Are the two the same thing but expressed differently?

6$\begingroup$ survival rate = the proportion (e.g percent) being "alive" at a certain time point. hazard = the instantaneous risk of experiencing the event. $\endgroup$– Adam RobinssonDec 13, 2015 at 20:12

$\begingroup$ Are you looking for an explanation of the difference in meaning of the two parameters or for an intuitive explanation of their relationship? $\endgroup$– Dilip SarwateDec 13, 2015 at 22:37

$\begingroup$ @DilipSarwate an intuitive explanation both both would be great. $\endgroup$– user95564Dec 13, 2015 at 22:43
