The mean is the expected value of a Beta distribution random variable X. What is the use of the median of beta distribution? Can the median be used as the expected value also?

$\begingroup$ It's unclear what you're seeking. If the mean is the expected value and the median is not equal to the mean then the median is not the expected value. The median has essentially the same "uses" as it has in any other continuous distribution. $\endgroup$ – Glen_b Aug 31 '17 at 0:56

  • $\begingroup$ Thanks for your comment @Glen_b I use the median for some interval to estimate the expected values (mean) for the same interval. I am not sure if that is okay. I have created a new question "How to calculate a partial expected value of beta distribution?": stats.stackexchange.com/questions/300681/… $\endgroup$ – Arbi Haza Nasution Aug 31 '17 at 5:27
  • $\begingroup$ A much clearer question. I've written an answer to that. $\endgroup$ – Glen_b Aug 31 '17 at 5:51
