The system I have has multiple sites each of which was surveyed for biodiversity. Some species are too hard to count individually so we used percentage cover, others were easy to count so we have count data for them. But this presents a problem for statistical analysis.

I want to know if there's some way to combine these data if I want to carry out some ordination methods e.g. non-metric multidimensional scaling. From my understanding I'd need the count data, but a lot of the dominant species are the ones in percentages.

Hope you can help.
