I need advice related to time series. I want to simulate users behavior based on real data, related to their activities that happened several times during a day. I managed to determine distribution for number of activities but I am stuck with time series. I need to somehow generate times when those activities will happened How I can produce ( generate ) those times? I have dataset with from real life in past 1 year when this activities happened and I used this to determine distribution for number of events per day but my problem is how to generate times for this events.

thx in advance

  • $\begingroup$ Could you describe your dataset and the reason for the simulation? $\endgroup$ – whuber Feb 7 at 15:04
  • $\begingroup$ I want to make simulation of creating and storing files. I collected data of file creation from my colleagues PC s. I want to simulate them / users ( their creation patterns) so i needed distribution for number of created file (i done this) and times (when certain file is created). So i don t need any forecast just to simulate them using simulation. But I don t know how to process and generate this times. I believe that cox is researcher that is closest to what I am looking for :) any advice is welcome. $\endgroup$ – explorer Feb 8 at 8:23
