Let us consider two random variables $X$ and $X'$ defined on the same measurable space $(E, \xi)$. Is there a sufficient condition on the distributions of the random variables $X$ and $X'$ for existence of a maximal coupling $(\widehat{X}, \widehat{X}')$ between them?
