I am interested in learning the ins and outs of adaptive content suggestion (similar to what facebook, google ads, youtube, netflix, linkedin and similar services typically do). I am new to the topic but would like to learn very quickly. My question has three parts:

  1. What kind of algorithm types/classes are commonly used/recommended for adaptive content suggestion?

  2. What literature would you recommend to quickly get bootstrapped on the topic (as close as possible to the particular application area of content suggestion), assuming one is already immersed in general statistical and mathemathical prerequisites.

  3. What open source libraries (preferably java) or public ”AI API services” (think watson, google cloud ai,) could be used to get quickstarted from software development perspective?
