I've seen some literature that quantifies the risk of spurious relationships in terms of sample size vs number of variables but I've not seen literature that quantifies the risk based on all 3 magnitudes: # Times samples per individual (in time series), # number of individuals sampled and # of variables sampled.

Is this because the only important parameters are the number of data points per variable, ie: the number of times sampled per individual multiplied by the number of individuals sampled? If not, is there literature that quantifies the risk in terms of all 3 magnitudes?
