I have the following data, which represent the realizations of the variable T = min(Y, C).

Some of the data is right-censored (+)

( 5.3, 12.1+, 11.7, 10+, 2.2, 9.8, 9.2, 3.5, 5.7+, 9.2, 3+ )

To take into account the right-censoring, I'm trying to understand how the Kaplan-Meier estimator works and thus have several questions:

1) What's the easiest way to compute it? (By hand/using R)

2) How to come uo with a confidence interval for, let's say, S(5.3) and also S(5.5) ?

3) How to get an estimator of E(Y) as well as Var(Y)?

I have to admit I'm new to the Survival Analysis methodology !

Thanks in advance,

Alex
