I am interested in the effect of a time varying variable on symptom change over time. Simple example: i estimate in a mixed effect model the interaction between time varying predictor X and Measurement on the Outcome Y. I am interested in whether the effect of Measurement (indicating the decrease in outcome over time) depends on the time varying predictor. Does anyone know how this model deals with the fact that both Measurement and time-varying predictor X vary over time? Does the interaction coefficient for example take the average value of the time varying predictor per person * Measurement (kind of a between-person effect) and the slope per person * Measurement (kind of a within person effect) into account?
