I will be soon ending my bachelors degree and choosing masters major. In my interest is newly opened major and I managed to get information about last years recruitment process, namely how many people actually went for recruitment process.

Knowing this fact I started to wonder how much can I actually infer from that information. After all this is minimal dataset of just one entry. However I also thought that it is not a totally random process and there shouldn't be much variation in such a case.

My question is then - how would you draw a conclusion and how sure would you be about it in the case of process that is rather known (recruitment), but you have only small piece of information about it?
