I am trying to analyze data that was collected over a few decades. I have monthly data points from August through May (with a lot of data gaps and some months with multiple data collected), but nothing was collected June through July. Is time series appropriate?

$\begingroup$ This doesn't appear to be a specific programming question that's appropriate for Stack Overflow. If you have general questions about the appropriate use of various statistical methods, then you should ask such questions over at Cross Validated instead. You are more likely to get better answers there. $\endgroup$ – MrFlick Jan 13 at 3:58
  • $\begingroup$ Most time series methods assume continually collected data, so they will likely not help you. You could run regressions against dummies to account for seasonality. What are you trying to accomplish? Forecasting? Detecting change points? Can you edit your question to include some data? As it stands, it is very broad. $\endgroup$ – Stephan Kolassa Jan 13 at 8:18
