I learned from CV that good statistical thinking looks like this:

I hope that *similar* thinking could be applied on plots.
Are there any **strict rules** (or at least *rule of thumb*)
according which I can choose the most appropriate graphical
representations for my data?

Both ***box-and-whisker*** plot and ***bar chart*** are appropriate graphics
for ANOVA according to The R Book (Crawley, 2013),
but **which is more appropriate**? I suppose it depends on situation... can anybody help me?
