Nov 12, 2011 at 13:35 comment added Frank Harrell A rough estimate of the minimum sample size needed to do what you are doing is that you need the minimum of the number of events or the number of non-events to exceed 15 times (12 + 5), assuming you had 17 candidate terms in the model. If you did any screening of predictors, making use of $Y$, all bets are off.
