Nov 16, 2016 at 4:24 comment added Carolyn Kennett The quadratic contrast compares the average of group 1 and 3 with group 2, but the linear one compares group 1 with group 3. If that is sig then surely averaging those two groups is not a sensible thing to do so that leads to some interpretive difficulties with the sig of the quadratic contrast I would have thought.
