Difference What is the difference between 'link function'a "link function" and 'canonicala "canonical link function'function" for GLM

What's the difference between terms 'link function' and 'canonical link function'? Also, are there any (theoretical) advantages of using one over the other?

e.g. AFor example, a binary response variable can be modeled using many link functions such as 'logit'logit, 'probit'probit, etc. But, 'logit'logit here is considered the 'canonical'"canonical" link function.
