May 6, 2022 at 9:40 comment added Nick Cox I wouldn't mention range in this way, as sample range on average will underestimate population range. That is, even supposing that the population has a finite range the sample range will be correct if and only if a sample includes both extremes; on average that won't happen and there will be a bias. That doesn't stop people in some fields using range!
